Vermont, NH, NY

Any suggestions on places to boondock in NY, NH or Vermont ? We're headed for the Atlantic Provinces and will be crossing these areas over the 1st and 4th of July holidays.

RE: resonator where to buy?

I have one and I have found a big reduction in noise ! My DW heard some discussion about the failures and she wouldn't shut up until I installed one. ;)

RE: What lawn chair fits you and your Class B?

I'd bet that it is made by the folks that make the PICO, looks like it folds the same, except for the telescoping legs - looks good!

RE: What lawn chair fits you and your Class B?

Gene, sorry for the late reply - on the road.
No, the PICO is not "worth" the $129 that CW sells them for, nor the $89 that I paid to LLBean (I think). But they do fit nicely under the sofa in my LTV - which also isn't "worth" the $85k I paid - but I sure do like it !

RE: Sprinter turbo resonator pt 2

One additional tid-bit, the Q5 resonators SEEM to not have the seperation problem found on the Q3 models. I say "seem" because I haven't seen any reports on their failure. My '06 had a Q3, so I changed to the aluminum one before I left on this trip.
The "Q3" & "Q5" identifiers are on the little white tag stuck on the side of the resonator, it is usually possible to read the tag from below with a flashlight.

RE: Prosine 2.0 battery bank question

I have only 150 AH in my battery bank, the Prosine 2.0 CAN draw over 200A, so if I had a maximum load on the batteries they would be below the 50% level in about 20 minutes. I don't do max loads for long, and have no problem with the setup. Now, when I get around to it I'll make room for 4xT105 6V, till then - no problem.

RE: Garmin Software

Not mine - that is the thing I don't like about it. The good thing is it ALWAYS works, just not necessarily on what you want - a good map (GPS) program & MS Money !
Maybe Garmin eventually will solve 50% of my Mac short-comings.

I haven't seen this yet, but I've been waiting a long time for them to come out with it. Now, if they would just do it for MAC.

RE: RV Communities

Ft.Clark Springs, Tx is a unique location, and they have RV development. Undiscovered except by a few lucky folks. After driving past it a few times we decided to go to the old Alamo movie set last time thru Brackettville. We were to late and they recommended we stay at Ft.Clark Springs and come back the next day. What a discovery !

RE: Ohhh Pleasure Way..You failed us all

I've been kinda watching - the thread title needs to be changed to reflect the Quality (or lack thereof) issues in ALL RV's.
I've owned motorhomes since the mid 70's, always had at least one, and sometime as many as 3 in the stable at any time. They were all largely built by, individuals making minimum wage, supervised and by folks being paid as little as possible, by companies that have as their goal making the largest profit margin possible. There is nothing wrong with this, it is the Capitalist way. The way arond this is to buy a vehicle with as high of quality as possible, then do the conversion yourself, as a few of our member friends have done, you'll still be prisoner of using many standard components, but MAYBE you can put them together better.
The only reason 'B's" are any better than "A's" or "C's" it that the VAN is built by vehicle manufacturer, with processes and machines to do so more efficiently than an RV manufacturer.
Warren Buffett, when asked why they made such CR_P,I believe, said something - like we will make it that way as long as you keep buying it...

RE: How do you like your satellite radio?

Satellite radio, like generators, house batteries, holding tanks, water tanks & solar panels, may not be very important to you if you stay close to the rest of the population in RV parks. If you get out and away, like - the Yukon, N.W.T, Big Bend, or down in Mexico you'll LOVE it.

RE: Where do you store your Travasak?

My Travasak also has Velcro full length on both sides - very nicely constructed, with excellent zippers. Good Product in my opinion.
One benefit I see of the RVSuperbag is that you can get a summer side and a "tropical" side. I assume (nice word) that the "tropical" is lighter than the summer. I find the summer to heavy many times in the RV.
To stay on thread - both would store the same, but the RVSuperbag, comes with a pillow sham type of storage, but it looks like you may need to separate the sides, to use the shams ?

RE: Where do you store your Travasak?

I have a LTV with the power sofa across the back, don't know if your floorplan is the same or not. My sofa has ~6" between the top of the back & the back door, this widens to ~14" down at the seat cushion level (behind the back). I put a shelf on the sofa frame down behind the back, now we just "roll" (shove) the sack down behind the sofa, then stand our pillows on top of it. Putting it in top first then letting the rest kind of fold on top makes it easy - as you pull it out it is already properly spread across the sofa.

RE: AC Power System For Sprinter Van Chassis

Good idea, but with the cost of diesel I'd probably stick with the Honda for long term, stationary operation.
It just dawned on me that I could do the same with my Prosine 2.0. Not as much power but sufficient to run anything (not everything at once)in the van. Just need a bigger alternator.

RE: Need advise on towing ability

Not knowing the weight, but guessing based on my 19' Whaler. I'd say your best bet would be a B built on a Ford E450. I'd go for diesel over the V10 gas hog. Sportsmobile will build what you want, on whatever chassis you want. Chevy builds a much better (in my experienced opinion) van due to the cab ergonomics, drive train and ride. I don't know if you can gross it up high enough to handle your weight though.

RE: B's Limited Space and Grills

We use the same as Davydd, and have been happy with it - buttttt - I'd sure like to find a unit that would operate on low pressure LP, yet be relatively affordable.
I have a tap on my LTV that allows me to use a standard propane bottle if I need more propane to run the generator or whatever. It would be nice to use the same tap (on the low pressure side of the regulator) to run a stove or grill.
